More Ponyo Ticket Giveaways, Watershed Film Series, Miyazaki/Lasseter Press Conference
- Watershed in Bristol is hosting a Studio Ghibli Cinekids Summer Season with screenings of Spirited Away, (Mon 03 - Thu 06 Aug), The Cat Returns (Mon 10 - Thu 13 Aug), Howl's Moving Castle (Mon 17 - Thu 20 Aug) and Tales from Earthsea (Mon 24 - Thu 27 Aug). All ages are welcome to attend. The fee for each is only £2.00 per child/£3.50 adults.
- Cartoon Brew has some clips from a press conference held at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences on July 28.

Ponyo East Coast Premiere
The New York International Children's Film Festival screens Ponyo Sunday, August 9 at 3:00pm. Many other Studio Ghibli films have graced the NYICFF including the only Studio Ghibli Museum short to play outside of the museum.

Ghibli Asemamire Episode Translation
An unofficial English translation of the August 2008 conversation between Toshio Suzuki and Mamoru Oshii is available for perusal. "The often-heated but always-friendly conversation touches a number of subjects, from Ponyo and The Sky Crawlers, to the state of the Japanese animation industry and the fate of hand-drawn animation." A highly recommended reading.

Ko Ransom, who occasionally posts on the welcome datacomp weblog, has provided an additional translation of the interview between Toshio Suzuki and Mamoru Oshii on the 12th August 2008. This took place during Episode 45 of Ghibli Asemamire, on Tokyo FM.
Ko has also translated a blog post by Kentaro Takekuma (based on his own lecture notes) on the topic Why is the Manga Version of Nausicaa So Hard to Read?

- The US release of Ponyo includes a remixed version of the original theme song for the ending credits according to the July 8 entry.
- The July 10 entry mentions that Studio Ghibli's next film will be released in 2010.

Hayao Miyazaki Festival in Vienna
The Filmcasino cinema in Vienna is hosting a Hayao Miyazaki Retrospective with the title "Spirited Away - Die fantastischen Welten des Hayao Miyazaki" from 17 September to 24 September 2009.
The full program and showtimes have not be finalized but will include:

Miyazaki and Fuchinomori Forest
The Kayanuma-Ekimae Photo Studio hosts an extensive photo gallery of Miyazaki and local residents' activity in the Fuchinomori forest. The tenth photograph from the bottom shows My Neighbor Totoro theme song singer Inoue Azumi visiting Fuchinomori. More on Miyazaki and the protection of the forest.
