GKids US Tour Dates

The GKids twitter feed outlined the upcoming stops for their traveling Studio Ghibli Retrospective:

• LA, Dallas (January)
• Boston (February)
• Toronto (March)
• Austin (March)
• DC (April-May)
• Seattle (June)
• San Francisco (July)

The LA series is playing at the Egyptian and Aero Theaters from January 26 to February 12.

NYC Ghibli Festival, (Almost) New Fireflies DVD, Record-setting Twitter Usage

• GKids' Studio Ghibli Retrospective begins today in New York City and runs through January 12. Additioal converage from the New York Times. For those not in NYC the films will tour the US after their NYC stint. Mondo created a special edition poster in conjunction with the festival for My Neighbor Totoro, unfortunately completely sold out.
• A new R1 DVD of Grave of the Fireflies is slated for release on March 6, 2012 by Sentai Filmworks. It's the same the remastered DVD put out by CPM in 2002.
• With a new live-action Sherlock Holmes film making the rounds Miyazaki's Sherlock Hound adaptation receives a mention in Rotten Tomatoes' 24 Frames feature.
• A December 9th Japanese TV screening of Castle in the Sky set a new record for the number of tweets per second of any event: 25,088 tweets per second. Most tweets consisted of the spell used by Pazu and Sheeta to destroy the castle.
