- A new introduction by Mark Schilling.
- Translation of the poems written by Hayao Miyazaki to communicate his vision of the film to Joe Hisaishi, who composed the music for Princess Mononoke. These poems can also be found in the Japanese edition.
- A transcript of a speech on the history of Studio Ghibli, given by the president of Studio Ghibli, Toshio Suzuki, at the 1995 Annecy International Animated Film Festival. This section replaces the production diary for Princess Mononoke which appeared in the Japanese edition of this book.
