Museum page link(s)

On the Main Page should we add a link to the museum page? Or should we build a 'Museum Shorts' section on the Main Page for links to these shorts?

  • I have always wanted a top-level link to the Museum page but have been to lazy to create one and locate it appropriately. The way the Main page currently looks, the shorts could all probably go into "other", but perhaps the Main page needs a bit of a restructure anyway...

    • The main page does need an overhaul, it's functional but not inviting. In the meanwhile adding a museum link is fine. --LLin 01:41, 15 April 2010 (UTC)

Non-Ghibli films

I've got some candidates to be considered for inclusion in the 'Pre-Ghibli/Non-Ghibli' section of the Main Page, namely: Iblard Time, Nights of Taneyamagahara, Ghibli Artisan - Kazuo Oga Exhibition, A, and Scenery of Ghibli, The. If these titles are to be included, I suppose we'll have to come up with some new main page icons for them since none exist on the old website.

Also have a question: How far do we go with listing "Non-Ghibli" films here, especially for noting the work of other Ghibli staff members? For instance, Studio Ghibli art directors Nizo Yamamoto and Kazuo Oga both worked on The Girl Who Leapt Through Time (Tokikake) - is that film a candidate for the Non-Ghibli section (e.g. Kumokaze) ? --Eishagishi 19:25, 27 September 2009 (UTC)

Six degrees of separation is probably too much but that film is close enough in relationship.

Thanks Lawrence. I'll add Tokikake to the pile I'm working.

Other language localizations

Parts of Nausicaa.net have been localized into other languages (Spanish, I think, at least). Is there an idea to accomodate different language versions of the same article in GhibliWiki? If so, and one would want to go and add a translation, how should it be tackled? --Elmimmo 04:58, 19 August 2008 (UTC)

The issue hasn't been addressed but translations can only be a good thing. I'm leaning towards handling translations in the page title. The language could be appended to the end of the title in the native spelling. If something is started another page should be created to coordinate styles etc.

Misc coding issues

Trying to eliminate the "index.php" in the URL, if odd errors occur when a page loads it's probably me breaking apache. I usually revert the settings right away if they don't work so just wait 30 seconds or so before reloading. LLin 17:55, 2 February 2007 (EST)

Some proposed new icons for discussion

Hope everyone's enjoying their turkey (or whatever floats their boat) today! Here's some proposed future Main Page icons for discussion and/or trashing:

I'm not really happy with some of these - need thoughts/suggestions. Also, haven't found any images yet from Takahata's upcoming The Tale of the Bamboo Cutter. And still playing around with ideas for the 'Miyazaki Musuem' and 'Miyazaki CD' ones.

Also have another question: Do we assign a 'Shorts' page for Takahata and staff's one-minute segment for the 2003 Winter Days? Oops, I hear a piece of pecan pie calling me. Ja ne!

The compression artifacts are really harsh. Need cleaner source material but DVDs of some of the stuff will be hard to come by, maybe someone on the MML can dump some footage. I don't see a problem with a page for the "Winter Days" segment.
--LLin 20:08, 27 November 2009 (UTC)
Yeah - I used the highest rez sources I could find without doing DVD screen grabs, which I'll try next (of the DVDs that I have). A lot of this particular artwork is low contrast and without the bold lines that survive compression well. I'll play around, 'er experiment some more, starting with the capsule music videos.

Deleted now-active icons from this section. Will keep an eye out for better rez artwork for future improvements.
